A large crowd took advantage of a new event in Downtown Troy.

Today was the first ever Fifth Saturday Festival.
The city of Troy and Pike County Chamber of Commerce’s Downtown Committee hosted the event. The downtown restaurants featured one or two food items in tents along the square and there was open mic performances.

Jacquelyn Patterson, Troy resident said, “I think it’s a good thing to do, especially on the fifth weekend when there’s nothing going on. And to get us out of the house and revved up and enjoy things and just see things going on.”

The city and chamber will host these events each month with five Saturdays, so the next one will be the last Saturday in August.
