Troy police say they see an increase in crime every summer, but recently they’ve seen a lot of cases involving teenagers.
Police have made arrests in three separate cases. All involving teens stealing credit cards.
Troy police say 28-year-old Brittany Woods and an underage suspect were arrested for credit card fraud after a theft at Goshen Elementary School.
Another teen was arrested for allegedly stealing a purse at The Grove Apartment complex.
And police say a third teen was arrested in Troy after allegedly stealing a car from ASU. That suspect was also arrested for credit card fraud.
Troy police say the majority of these crimes could have been avoided.
Lt. Bryan Weed, Troy Police Department said, “Just really want to stress to the public they need to be aware of making sure they’ve secured their vehicles, not leaving their keys in their vehicles. Leaving no property of value in plain sight, and to make contact with the management of their apartment complexs or neighbors in their neighborhoods to be aware of what’s going on.”
Lt. Weed is also asking parents to keep an eye on their children to keep them out of trouble.
