The redevelopment of downtown Montgomery has been taking place for several years.
But is enough to help small businesses trying to make a go of it in downtown? Several residential projects are in the works, but with the addition of more people living downtown, comes the need for businesses to provide services.
Businesses like Cucos Mexican restaurant which just recently relocated to Dexter Avenue have seen an increase in customers. The owner, Oscar Franco says more residential living is good for the bottom line.
“Any apartment that comes downtown, there’s going to be the potential customer for us for dinner and for lunch.”
Most of those new residential apartments should be completed with the next several months. Plus, there are several new restaurants slated to open up in downtown along the same time frame.
