BIRMINGHAM, AL — Tuscaloosa’s Deontay Wilder (33-0, 32 KO) will make his first WBC heavyweight title defense on Saturday night against Eric Molina.

The 6-foot-7 Wilder weighed in at 229 pounds. The 6-foot-4 Molina, attempting to become the first Mexican-American to win a heavyweight championship, tipped the scales at 239.25 pounds.

“I guess he came in shape, came in weight,” said Wilder. “I always come in shape. Almost ninety percent of my opponents have weighed more than me. But my record still says undefeated. They can celebrate that weight, but they will also celebrate that loss.”

Once the men went face to face, a lot of trash talking ensued and a fight almost occurred on the state.
