Political Analyst Steve Flowers was on Alabama News Network at 6:00 to talk about the chances that Alabama might remove the Confederate battle flag from the Capitol grounds in Montgomery.

The flag has come under fire in the wake of the deadly shootings at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina. The suspect was seen in photographs with the flag. That has prompted calls for it to be removed from the South Carolina Capitol grounds in Columbia.

In Alabama, the battle flag flies with other Confederate flags at the Confederate Monument at the north end of the Capitol. Flowers says while South Carolina’s flag flies because of state law requiring it, Alabama’s flag could be removed without changing the law. Flowers thinks with all of the national scrutiny, public displays of the Confederage battle flag will be going away.
