From the West Alabama Newsroom– Electronic bingo facilities in Lowndes County have been quietly open and operating now for weeks.
“Its a great thing for Lowndes County. Glad to have it back in and people are getting jobs and the county is getting taxes,” said former commissioner Charlie King, Jr.
White Hall Entertainment Center is once again open for business. The facility shut down more than five years ago after it was raided by the Governor’s Task Force on Illegal Gambling.
“People going to do what they want to do. They’re going to go where they want to go,” said King. “If we don’t have here in Lowndes County they’re going to Mississippi, they’re going to Georgia, they’re going to the Indians or they’ll go out in the back of the woods and shoot dice.”
Southern Star Entertainment in White Hall is also open for business. Its been open and operating now for about eight months.
“I like it. I like playing bingo so I don’t see nothing wrong with it,” said Harriet Mims.
