The Confederate Flag makes it’s way back to the Capitol Saturday Morning.

This rally came after Governor Bentley ordered all of the confederate flags on the Capitol grounds to be removed. Hundreds gathered on the Capitol grounds, saying they wanted to support their Southern Heritage.

They claim groups have used the flag as a sign of hate, but that’s not what they were promoting.  Across the street a small group gathered together as a counter protest.

Madison Clark, a Montgomery resident said, “This sort of hatred can’t continue on this sort of mind set of the confederacy rising again is not the type of mind set that Alabama and America should be promoting.”

Mike Williams, an organizer of the rally said, “Our next step is to approach the legislature one step at a time. We are going to let the legislatures in each county in Alabama understand that if they vote for Gov. Bentley’s tax package after he used that to take these flags down, then they are going to have to answer to the consitutents of Alabama.”

Rally organizers say they will be at the Capitol for the legislature’s special session.
