Alabama News Network is learning more about the city’s latest homicide victim.

His name is Sylvester Morris but he went by the name FatHead. The 32-year-old rapper had quite a following in Alabama, especially here in Montgomery. His friends talked exclusively to us and say he’ll be very missed.

Family, friends and fans of Montgomery rapper FatHead are now mourning his loss.

“I lost my mom when I was nine and I was too young to know what pain and stuff was.”

But now, Kalil Hicks says the pain he’s feeling from the loss of his lifelong friend is unbearable.

“This done touched home real bad,” he says. “It touched a lot of kids. It touched a lot of adults.”

Montgomery police say Sylvester Morris, who went by the stagename FatHead, was shot Sunday night in the 3500 block of Berkley Drive. He was taken to the hospital, where he died. Friend and fellow rapper ‘Bama Ben’ says he can’t wrap his head around it.

“Man…I couldn’t go to sleep last night. It’s crazy. I sort of got used to it, you know, folks get killed around here so much but with Fat, it really really hit home like when they killed Doe B.”

Which is why Fathead’s friends are saying enough is enough and calling for an end to the violence.

“In his name I hope and pray that our young men here in Montgomery, Alabama will put down the guns and put down the hate,” says Jamel Brown.

He says it’s a life taken much too soon.

“We just took a picture together last week.”

“A good person, he would give you his last,” Bama Ben says. “They killed a good dude.”

“I got a lot of good memories though. I got a lot of good memories,” says Hicks.

Currently, there are no suspects in custody.

But CBS 8 and ABC Montgomery are Taking action against crime in this case.
