Dallas County Ranks Among the State’s Most Inactive Counties.

From the West Alabama Newsroom– The state of Alabama has the seventh highest percentage of physically inactive people in the country according to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control. And Dallas County ranks among the state’s most inactive counties.
According to the CDC twenty-eight percent of Alabamians answered ‘NO’ when asked if they participated in any physical activities or exercise outside of work during the past month.
And in Dallas County — the percentage of inactive people is more than 5 points higher — at 33.3 percent.
Olivia Acoff of Selma admits to contributing to that number but says she really wants to get more active.
“I feel it would give me more energy and help me mentally,” said Acoff.
According to the CDC the top ten most inactive Alabama counties are:
1) Clay County – 34.7 percent
2) Marion County – 34.3 percent
3) Hale County – 34.2 percent
4) Franklin County – 34.1
5) Covington County – 34 percent
6) Lawrence County – 33.7 percent
7) Marengo County – 33.5 percent
8) Dallas County – 33.3 percent
9) Butler County – 33.3 percent
10) Talladega County – 33.2 percent
