Auburn, AL – Auburn University is about a month away from completing construction on it’s new video board inside Jordan-Hare stadium.
When football fans walk into Jordan-Hare stadium on September 12th for the Tigers home opener against Jacksonville State, their experience will be like non other in the country.
“This is the biggest collegiate video board, ” said Auburn University Construction Manager Wendy Peacock.
It’s about 18 stories to the top of Auburn’s new $3.5 million video board. Construction crews are working on every level, 24-hours a day in two shifts. “What’s happening now ,they are connecting the video board behind the scenes and adding power. It won’t be until August till we have power,” said Peacock.
The new video board is six times bigger than the old one. It will feature enhanced picture quality, and surround sound.
“Fans number one complaint is the audio. We hope that this will fix that,” said Andy Young with Auburn University Athletics.
The new audio cabinet is the same size of the old video board. “It just goes to show how loud the sound will be. It will also solve the echo problem,” Peacock said.
