From the West Alabama Newsroom–  It’s a tool being used more and more by churches to reach people with their message.

Freedom Baptist Church pastor Rev. James Spicer says his church uses its marquee to minister to people.

“Even when we’re not here, like midnight somebody driving down the road and they see what’s on the marquee,” said Spicer.

Spicer says its used to announce upcoming events – share Bible verses – and to communicate spiritual truths using short sayings that grab a person’s attention.

“Where do you want to spend eternity? What seat do you want smoking or non-smoking? When people read that and think about it, they may never come to this church but down the road somewhere the Spirit may prick their heart and say now did you see that? Now where do you want to spend eternity?” he said.

Spicer says the messages reach people right where they are – and many times draws them right into the church.
