The Montgomery Zoo Holds Animal Enrichment Day
People from all over central Alabama come to the Montgomery Zoo to have great time, and the zoo worked to make sure their animals had just as much fun.
The Montgomery Zoo held it’s Animal Enrichment Day, showing off how the animals stay cool in the heat while staying entertained. The animals were given special toys and other prizes to play with. Zookeepers also threw frozen watermelons into the animal’s water ponds, hoping to encourage them to take a dip to cool off.

“It’s important to keep the animals from getting bored,” says Conservation and Enrichment Manager Kevin Naugher, “If they get bored, they tend to get unhealthy. They get obese. They need to be mentally stimulated as well so they wont develop psychological problems and develop neurotic behavior.”

The Montgomery Zoo hosts its Animal Enrichment Day twice a year.
