Public Safety Insurance Plan Helping Families

Today was a day to honor state and local law enforcement.This afternoon officers and business leaders came together for the cause that’s all about helping those who protect and serve.Hundreds of people both in and out of uniform filled the room for this year’s Public Safety insurance fund luncheon. The money provides for more than 2,000 public safety officers, including law enforcement in the river region, and Alabama State Troopers, and they say it’s a much needed source. The insurance plan is a 60,000 dollar policy. 10,000 for the family no matter how, when or where the officer dies, and another 50,000 to the family if an officer dies off duty. The fund will also cover Capital Police and Alabama Marine Police once coverage policies renew in August.
