It’s a case that captured the nation’s attention.

On July 31, 1999 two Dothan teens— J-B Beasley and Tracie Hawlett were heading to meet friends. They got lost, called home from a pay phone in Ozark, but never made it back.  Police found their car the next day on a secluded section of a street in Ozark. The girls’ bodies were discovered in the trunk, both had been shot and killed.

It’s been almost 16 years and the families are still searching for answers.

Joey Burgoon, JB’s stepfather said, “I would like to know why, why you had to take two lives away. Two precious girls there was no reason for it.”

Jacqui Burgoon, JB’s sister said, “And whoever knows what happened, I pray that they come forward, that they understand that we need answers that if this were their family member, their friend, this were their child, how would they feel in that situation.”
