Fatal Hit & Run Cold Case in Wilcox Co. Remains Unsolved

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  The Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the public for help to solve a a fatal hit and run cold case.

Sheriff Earnest Evans says 56 year old James blackmon was found lying on Highway 221 near Chaney Road back in March. He says Blackmon was taken to the hospital but died hours later.

“He is known to walk that road,” he said. “His mother lives within a half a mile from where he was found.”

Evans says the incident has been under investigation since it happened but the case remains unsolved.

Sharon Blackmon is James Blackmon’s sister. She says her brother’s sudden death has left a void in their close-knit family.

“The family want to know answers,” she said. “We don’t know what happened in March to our brother. Its been several months now and we don’t have any answers.”
