Should Metal Detectors be put in Movie Theaters?

The fatal shooting in a Louisiana movie theater Thursday evening claimed the lives of two  people and injured 9 others. But as for moviegoers in Montgomery, they say they feel pretty safe.

“I don’t worry about shootings… Not here,” said Jordan Hall.

Security is beefed up a little more on Friday nights with  a strong Montgomery Police presence, but we’re told that is not anything out of the ordinary.
Even though many say they feel perfectly safe, people we talk to say they wouldn’t mind metal detectors inside the theaters.

Curry Hoyle tells us, “I think it would be a great thing. Stop some of the craziness that is going on if you can stop it early.”

“I would be for it as long as it makes us safer and our community safer,” said Alana Tate.

But not everyone likes the idea.
We asked our facebook fans. While many were for it, there were some against.

William Stringer says, “If they do, I won’t go to a movie again. I refuse to go anywhere I’m not allowed to conceal my weapon. I’m a good guy with a gun, not a sitting duck.”

Adrian Freeman says, “Gun Free Zones are kill zones. Proof.”

L. Duane Brand says, “It may slow some down, but a determined predator given time will find a way to circumvent them and still prey on the unsuspecting, unarmed patrons.”

At the end of the day, people tell us they won’t let it stop the shooting from going about their normal lives.

“Just be aware of your surroundings…it’s like everything else you do,” said Tate.
