From the West Alabama Newsroom–  Students in Selma and Dallas County are getting ready to head back-to-school — and several area groups are helping to make sure students are ready.

The first day of school is right around the corner in Selma and Dallas County and to make sure the new school year starts off to a good start — several community groups are holding school supply giveaways for area students.

The Selma Police Department and First Baptist Church in Orrville are handing out free supplies on Saturday.

“We know that there are some families that are in need,” said Lt. Natasha Fowlkes. “So, if we can be of assistance to the community that’s what we here for.”
