U.S. Ag Secretary & Congresswoman Terri Sewell Tour West Alabama

From the West Alabama Newsroom–Â U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack visits Alabama to announce $4.9 million dollars in new funding for rural development projects across the state.
Secretary Vilsack toured parts of west Alabama Wednesday with Congresswoman Terri Sewell.
The tour made a stop in Selma where representatives from Selma University and Concordia College Alabama met with Secretary Vilsack and shared the challenges that each institution is facing.
“Right now at both colleges, we’re having a very tough time as far as retaining students and part of that is because of our facilities,” said CCA Vice President of Student Services Dr. Donald Jefferson. “This now will give us an opportunity for grants, for low-interest loans and even for assistance from the federal government.”
Vilsack also attended a groundbreaking for a new wastewater treatment facility in White Hall.
The USDA provided about $1.4 million dollars in funding for that project.
