From the West Alabama Newsroom– A gang crackdown is underway in Dallas County as authorities try to put a stop to a rise in gang activity in the community.
District Attorney Michael Jackson said a gang task force has now been formed to help deal with the problem. He said agents have already conducted one gang sweep — and more sweeps are on the way.
“We want people to understand that these gang members are going to be dealt with,” said Jackson. “People are tired of these gangs going out gang banging, these gunslingers so enough is enough.”
The DA’s office recently hosted a street gang seminar to train law enforcement how to identify and deal with gangs. Sixty officers from about a dozen law enforcement agencies in west Alabama participated.
