WCCS Hosts Lecture Commemorating 50th Voting Rights Anniversary

From the West Alabama Newsroom–Â Commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights movement continues on in Selma.
The Voting Rights Act — 50 Years Later — is part of a year-long series of lectures commemorating the 50th anniversary of voting rights movement.
The event is sponsored by the National Historic Trail and Wallace Community College Selma.
Civil rights attorneys — Fred Gray and Morris Dees — will be the featured speakers at the event.
“Its important that ordinary citizens who care about democracy with a little ‘D,’ those are the folks who need to come out and hear this message,” said WCCS history instructor, Dr. Tara White.
The lecture will be held at the WCCS Auditorium, Tuesday, August 25th at 6 PM.
The event is open and free to the public.
