Voting Rights Icon Amelia Boynton Robinson Remembered in Selma

From the West Alabama Newsroom–  People in Selma are mourning the loss — and celebrating the life — of voting rights icon — Amelia Boynton Robinson.

Boynton-Robinson — who was one of the leaders of the Selma Voting Rights Movement — died early Wednesday morning in Montgomery.

“Her life will always be a life that will be remembered as bringing about changes for the good of all people,” Rev. Frederick D. Reese.

Boynton-Robinson was one of the hundreds of people who were attacked and beaten by troopers on Bloody Sunday in 1965 in Selma.

She’s being remembered for her tireless efforts to ensure that every American had the right to vote.
