From the West Alabama Newsroom– Marengo County officials are launching new technology to provide a convenient option for residents to take care of routine business with the county.
County officials will use satellite kiosk technology to try and improve the way residents renew their car tags — and pay their property taxes.
They say a kiosk will be set up at the north and south ends of the county for residents in each area to use instead of travelling to the courthouse.
“I think it would be real good for the elder people and for people that might have a handicap,” said Marengo County resident Bobby Jackson.
There’s also an app available that would let residents conduct business using a smartphone.
A demonstration on how to use the technology will be held for the public at the Marengo County Courthouse, September 3rd at 5:15 pm.
The kiosk system is set to go online October 1st.
