The Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition honored Coach Clint Myers, Auburn Softball Head Coach, with the inaugural Champion of Character Award during its 5th annual Champions of Character event on September 3, 2015. This event has grown since its inception in 2011 due to Prattville area residents’ love of community and the desire to reinforce the prestigious status of being a “Community of Character.”

Coach Clint Myers’ commitment to family, his determination to build a program against tough competition, and his ability to have his team excel both on the field and off are just a few of the many reasons that the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition has selected him to receive the inaugural Champions of Character Award.

Champions of Character is held at the end of summer and allows the community to come together to kick-off an exciting season of friendly football rivalry while being reminded of the importance of good character. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s colors, and school mascots are invited to attend if their schedules allow; there are fun and exciting events for children and a silent auction. Our honoree will speak after dinner to relate what good character has meant in his personal and professional life and remind us first-hand about the importance of good character.

Since 2006, the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, has worked strategically to promote good character among its citizens through education and example. The program is composed of community leaders and volunteers who work diligently to introduce and promote the idea that character is learned and can be improved throughout a person’s life. The Coalition uses a systemic focus and works closely with organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals to introduce good character qualities into daily life. Through the support of donors, the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition sets a good course for our community, one character trait at a time.

Every month, we learn about and grow one character trait that can be found in the Coalition’s free email bulletin. This e-bulletin also contains inspiring stories, quotes, and updates from the Coalition about character in our community. With encouragement and positive reinforcement, forty-nine different character traits help to strengthen and grow the fabric in all of us, our families, and our communities.
