Quick notes from Alabama’s weekly press conference: Head Coach Nick Saban: “I think the key thing this week is to play better in this game, execute, be consistent, and the best way to do that is preparation throughout the week” No injuries to report…. Ole Miss: conference opener, and it will offer many challenges Ole Miss certainly has an outstanding team – 18 starters….when you score 70 something points in a game, they lead the nation in a lot of categories, they have a good runner #6……good receiving core, defense 7 starters back….give up 12 points a game this year….very good all around team…. Cyrus Jones: played consistent last year, he’s played very well so far this year….he sets a good example, and that’s been a positive On Preparation for Ole Miss, do you watch last year’s game film: I don’t think there’s any question, one of the things we always do, we always look at what they did last year, what they try to do offensively, we do this after we play the game, I evaluate how we did, I always think that’s a big part of planning Kenyan Drake: He was trying to make a big play every time he got the ball, and that affected his decision making… OJ Howard: He has done a great job, and has been productive for us in the past two games, he’s a mismatched player most of the time, he’s a great receiver, and Chad Kelly and Ole Miss Offense: It’s pretty much the same, they’ve always been the team who does quarterback runs, he’s effective, when they bring the next quarterback in, he does…..throwing the ball, executing on offense, he has done an excellent job. Robert Nkemdiche: We recruited him, he’s a great athlete, distinctive, he’s quick, he can pass rush, you see his athleticism, he’s a diverse player, his athletic intuition to make a lot of plays Went to the Nickel: They play some regular formations, they’re spread out, you have to match personnel….. hard to play these guys if you don’t play nickel Ole Miss Receiving Core: Alabama’s secondary….this will be a challenge for them, a few guys played against them last year, and they need to do a better job verse last year, they made a lot of big plays, and it’s going to be really important to make sure we don’t allow them to make big plays Decision on going with Cooper in second half: Both guys did some good things in the game, we will see when they watch film, there’s a lot of things they could have done better…taking care of the ball is the number one concern, both guys need to play better Ole Miss Defense being disruptive: Ole Miss is very good, they’re front is very active, and quick…..I think it’s going to be a challenge for us because we didn’t pass protect well last year, we are going to have to do a much better job than last year….this Mindset on splitting Qb time: both guys need to improve, we evaluate this on a day-to-day basis, if it’s to play two guys, we will…..
