Armed Robbery Suspect Now in Police Custody

Montgomery Police have captured 41 year old Donald Ryan Rushing. He was found Tuesday afternoon in a home on the 300 block of Southlawn Drive. Rushing was arrested after police say he robbed an Adams Drugs on Mitchell Avenue, an Exxon Gas Station and Gulf States at 6000 East Shirley Lane. Police say Rushing stole prescription drugs and other merchandise. He faces 2 counts of robbery and one theft charge. However, other charges could follow in the coming days. Officers say Rushing has a minor criminal history and substance abuse issues. Several schools were on lockdown while they searched for Rushing. The manhunt ended around 2:00 PM today when authorities received a tip that Rushing was in a home on Southlawn Drive. Once they arrived on the scene, they were told Rushing was “out cold” in back bedroom. SWAT Team members entered the home and took Rushing into custody without incident. He was then taken to a nearby hospital for observation. Montgomery Police Chief Ernest Finley credits the community for calling in tips to the possible location of Rushing. He also credits the cooperation of several law enforcement agencies in locating Rushing.
