Sundowners Series: Montgomery’s Monuments with Michael Panhorst

Michael W. Panhorst will present “Montgomery’s Monuments,” an illustrated discussion of selected monuments, memorials, and commemorative sculptures in the Capital City on Tuesday, October 27 at 5:15 pm at the Loeb Reception Center on Columbus Street. War monuments, funerary memorials, portraits, and public sculptures surround us. They mark significant moments in our lives as individuals and as a society, yet we pass many with merely a glance and we fail to understand their significance and their context. This presentation will attempt to illuminate the importance of some of Montgomery’s most notable, and overlooked, monuments. Dr. Panhorst has been a frequent tour guide for Landmarks Foundation’s Trekking Through the Past Walking Tours. This is free to the public.
