The City of Wetumpka Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month
In support of breast cancer awareness the City of Wetumpka asks local business owners to place pink ribbons on their doors Oct 1 -31. This year the city is partnering with Ivy Creek Health Care and the Wetumpka Herald to have a “Ladies Night Out” Thursday October 8th from 6-8pm at the Wetumpka Civic Center. This event will be to honor survivors and support those fighting the disease. There will be vendors, a silent auction, food and a fashion show starting at 7pm. A donation is requested at the door and all proceeds will be given to the Joy to Life Foundation and Women of Hope. On Friday October 9th at noon there will be a pink walk from the Civic Center to the river to release balloons. During the month River Region Family Medicine will be providing FREE breast exams. On October 23rd the Elmore Community Hospital will host a FREE mammogram clinic by appointment only; this will be a one day clinic from 8a-2p .
