Judge Clears Way for Electronic Bingo in Macon County

A ruling by a Montgomery County Circuit Court judge clears the way for electronic bingo. Judge William Shashy stated VictoryLand casino and owner Milton McGregor established through witness testimony that the intent of Amendment 744 was  to allow “all forms of bingo, including electronic bingo.”

Shashy was appointed by the Alabama Supreme Court to hear the case.

According to Shashy’s ruling, unless the Attorney General’s offices begins shutting down all other casinos, it will have to return the property seized from VictoryLand in 45 days.

“These exhibits provided substantial evidence that the voters in Macon County understood bingo to mean all forms of bingo, including electronic,” Shashy wrote in the order. “The state of Alabama did not produce any evidence in opposition.”
