Long-time Uniontown Police Chief Donald Rhodes Resigns

From the West Alabama Newsroom–Â Â Long-time Uniontown Police Chief Donald Rhodes is retiring after nearly 20 years on the job.
Rhodes submitted his resignation suddenly last week citing medical reasons.
He says there has been an increase in pressure from city leaders for police officers to write more tickets.
“I wanted officers out there to write tickets but I didn’t want them out there harassing people for no reason at all,” said Rhodes.
A portion of Highway 80 runs through Uniontown and it has a reputation as a speed trap.
Mayor Jamaal Hunter says the allegation of pressure from city leaders to write more tickets is not true.
He says the only pressure that was put on Rhodes — was that he make sure police officers were out doing their jobs.
