Gov. Bentley Announces $500K+ in Grant Money for Brundidge

Governor Robert Bentley stops in Pike County today to announce major economic news.Â
Â
He announced that more than half a million dollars in grant money will be used in the city of Brundidge. Southern Classic Food Group is a large employer in the area and the grant money will help support major expansion at the food processor.Â
Â
The money will be used to add a new industrial road leading to a soon-to-be built vegetable processing plant, and also to support water and sewer infrastructure. Those are two vital things for the large manufacturer that produces many different products like salad dressing and sauces.Â
Â
Gov. Robert Bentley, (R) Alabama said, “You know it is just really interesting to go around the state and see what’s produced in Alabama. And what you eat everyday may have been produced in this plant right here and the production took place  right here. I didn’t know if it was just packaging or production but he said no we produce these products here. And they continue to expand there are other plants that we can’t announce yet that will be coming that everyone will be familiar with.”
Â
Southern Classic Food Group will be adding a new production line for juice products. Construction on the new vegetable processing plant should begin in the next few months. It will produce pickled product, starting as soon as next May.
