A formWAL INDICTMENT PKG2333er Wilcox County Commission chairman is indicted by a grand jury on theft and ethics charges.

District Attorney Michael Jackson says  an investigation by the ethics commission found that former commission chairman Michael Saulsberry used his position for personal gain.

Jackson says as chairman — Saulsbury voted to reduce his water bill during a commission meeting — and also had some bills adjusted through the water authority.

“The ethics commission did an investigation, a thorough investigation and after they did their investigation we presented that to the grand jury and they returned those indictments,” said Jackson. “Those are three felonies.”

Jackson says Saulsberry will be arraigned in circuit court in the coming weeks — and then a trial date will be set.
