Troy City Council to Announce New Fire Chief in January
Troy residents were hopeful of finding out who their next fire chief would be Tuesday night. But due to Mayor Jason Reeves absence, that didn’t happen.
“Be a hard decision to make, we can only choose one.”
The new chief will now be chosen at their meeting, on January 12th. Meanwhile Camille Downing, of the Pike Regional Child Advocacy Center is educating the city on child abuse. She says thirty out of sixty-nine children have been treated for medical evaluations, after forensic interviews at the center.
“And 9 times out 10 children are afraid to tell someone.”
She’s also educating parents.
“We want to educate the parents about things to look for because abuse can be taking place-ongoing for years before the child feels safe disclose.”
And council members agree in support of cutting down on those numbers.
“very informative, something to be concerned about, very happy that we’ve got someone of her caliber with the Pike Regional Advocacy Center being advocate for children in our community, says council president, John Witherington.
