Heavy rains and thunderstorms put a damper on Christmas for many, leaving several roads closed in surrounding counties from flooding or either forming a sink hole in Bullock County.
“Its the first time I ever seen one so I just wanted to come check it out. Right now me and my sister were trying to get home for Christmas and we’re kind of bogged down,” says Christopher Belyeu.
Residents say, while the damage of the sink hole is scary along Highway 29, it could have been a lot worse.
“There’s a lot of chicken trucks that come up and down through here. It could have been really bad,” says  Mindy Ingram
Some traveling in the area were on their way to their Christmas destination, only to be delayed.
“They should have put a sign up a little further on up the road  because a lot of cars don’t even know what they’re even heading into until they’re right here,” says Belyeu.
Flooding continues in several areas and officials urge for caution to keep drivers safe as they did on Christmas Eve.
“They reacted quickly. They barricaded…they did a good job. They did their job and they did it without fault.”
