Making resolutions is one of the popular traditions people observe at the start of a new year.

It’s a time when people look towards the future and set goals for improving themselves — and their lives.

Selma resident Rebecca Smith said her resolution is to lose weight.

“I want to get down, not skinny, skinny but I want to knock off some good pounds,” she said.

“My New Year’s resolution is to save more,” said Temeka Sykes.

Michael Stewart said in 2016 he wants to be a better husband and father.

“Me and wife got married about 9 months ago. I currently have a 1 year old daughter and my New Year’s resolution is to provide a more healthy environment for her, to be a better role model for her and also our 10 year old,” he said.
