WAL FLOODING0106 VO23From the West Alabama Newsroom–

Flood waters from Alabama River have receded significantly in Selma and now the clean up by those affected by the flood — is underway.

Management at the Sandbar Restaurant at the City Marina were out Wednesday morning assessing the damage from the flood and cleaning up the muddy mess.

“When I opened the door for the first time I think I wanted to cry,” manager Kim Morris.

“It looked like someone had took the building literally picked it up, turned it upside down, shook it filled it full of muddy water, flipped it back up and then walked away from it.”

Morris says the flood water got about five feet high in the building damaging some of the kitchen equipment.

According to the National Weather Service — this latest flood was the highest in the area in 25 years.
