Preliminary Assessments Begin for Flood Damage in Pike County

FEMA along with Alabama EMA officials stopped into Troy Friday to begin preliminary assessments for damage from recent flooding.
Officals took a look at photos in the city and county of damage. Information discussed Friday is sent to the state’s Emergency Operations Center. Afterwards its sent to the governors office. As of this week, there were several roads still closed. Pike County EMA Director says officials are still working to open as many roads as they can.
“From what I can see so far in Pike County the weather event caused substantial damage to a lot of the county roads, particularly the dirt roads. Some of the roads are washed out,” says Steriling Bridges of FEMA Public Assistance.
Officials say they don’t have a timeline as to when they will hear back about assessments.
