Goshen Man Sentenced to Life Consecutive to 25 Years in Prison

A Goshen man is sentenced to life consecutive to 25 years in prison for the murder of his son and attempted murder of another son.

On November 9, 2013, Sammy Jackson shot and killed his 18-year-old son. He also shot another son, but he survived. Carolyn Jackson says she’s glad that this chapter is finally behind her. While incarcerated Jackson will receive treatment for mental illness and substance abuse.
“We’re very happy with the sentence. Its something we’ve wanted to get a closer in and we’re very happy with it,” says Carolyn Jackson.
Defense Attorney Sam Dixon says the verdict is a disappointment after presenting to the court Jackson’s history of mental illness and extreme stress.
