Eight People Arrested in Tallapoosa Co. Drug Investigation
Eight people have been arrested in a massive drug investigation conducted in Tallapoosa County.
Officials say the investigation began with a complaint about possible drug activity near Benjamin Russell High School. A lengthy investigation, which included controlled buys from the suspected dealers, eventually lead to a traffic stop on Highway 259, where four suspects were arrested. Those arrests also lead to two search warrants being executed at the suspect’s residences, leading to more arrests. Those arrested and charged are:
- Jason Kelley, 34 of Alexander City: three (3) counts of Attempt to Commit a Controlled Substance Crime.
- Rikki People, 50, of Alexander City: four (4) counts of Illegal Purchase of Precursor.
- Brooklyn Karr 19, of Alexander City: two (2) counts of Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Tyler Wilson 21, of Alexander City: eight (8) counts of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance, two (2) counts Possession of Marijuana 1stdegree, Possession of Controlled Substance, Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Amber Sharpe, 18, of Alexander City: Possession of Marijuana 1st degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Taylor Wilson, 21, of Alexander City: Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 1st degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
- Patricia Jones, 47, of Alexander City: Possession of Marijuana 1st degree, Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Virgil Jones, 24, of Alexander City: Possession of Marijuana 1st degree and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The investigation in this case is ongoing in Tallapoosa County. The Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force, Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department and Alexander City Police Department all participated in the investigation and execution of warrants.
