Tuskegee & Selma University play @ Montgomery’s Paterson Field Wednesday

For the first time this season, the Tuskegee University baseball program will take the field at Paterson Field in Montgomery against Selma University in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon.

The two are scheduled to start at 1 pm, with the weather calling for windy conditions. The temperature tomorrow will hover around 44 degrees with the wind blowing WNW at 14 miles per hour.

Tuskegee (1-1) comes into the doubleheader off of a split with Morehouse on opening weekend in Phenix City. During that series, the Golden Tigers knocked five balls out of the park that included a pair from freshman Elgin Woodside. Tuskegee scored 21 runs in the two games (falling in game one 9-7 and winning game two 12-2), while giving up 11 total.

Several Golden Tigers picked up multiple hits in the two games last weekend led by Woodside (the Reigning SIAC Player of the Week) with six, while Alexander Henderson picked up and three others picked up a pair.

On the mound last weekend, Trey Nelson finished with no decision in game as he went six innings and allowed four runs off of six hits. Meanwhile, Joseph Mauldin (the reigning SIAC Pitcher of the Week) picked up the win in game two as he went seven innings allowing just two runs off of four hits.

As a team, Tuskegee is hitting .350 while holding opponents to a batting average of .217.

The Golden Tigers will give the ball to Jordyn Thomas in game one and Eugene Mabota in game two on Wednesday, as Thomas was moved back to today after being slated to start last week against Concordia (Selma) before it was rained out.
