Men’s Basketball Falls Late at Home to Faulkner
MONTGOMERY, Ala. —— The Auburn Montgomery men’s basketball team fell in the final seconds to Faulkner University, 79-76, Saturday afternoon.
NOTES
• With the loss, the Warhawks drop to 13-11 (7-7) on the year.
• The Eagles improved to 14-12 (8-6) on the season.
• The loss drops AUM to 44-33 all-time against Faulkner.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior Julius McCoy finished with a team-high 16 points. He finished 4-of-9 from behind the arc and added two assists, two steals and two rebounds.
• Senior Tristen Harrell added 15 points and shot 3-of-5 from behind the arc. He also picked up three assists, two rebounds and a steal.
• Senior Bobby Thompson finished in double-digits for his third consecutive game with 13 points. He shot 6-of-10 from the field and added seven rebounds and three steals.
• Junior Romoane Eager added 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.
• Di’Mar Hill led the Eagles with 34 points.
• Nick Drake (17) also finished in double-figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, and would stay ahead by five, 9-4, after a layup from DeRamus with 14:26 left in the half.
• Faulkner took the lead, 15-13, after a 5-0 run was finished off by two free-throws from Hill with 9:32 on the clock.
• Faulkner extended the lead to five, 22-17, before AUM exploded on a 14-2 run to take a seven-point lead, 31-24, after a layup by Thompson with 2:17 remaining in the half.
• AUM held Faulkner to just three points in the final four minutes of the half to lead by eight, 35-27, at the half.
• AUM quickly jumped out to a game-high 10-point lead, 42-32, after a layup by Eager with 16:11 on the clock.
• Faulkner responded with a 21-4 run to take a seven-point lead, 53-46, after a free-throw from Jimenez with 11:11 on the clock.
• Faulkner extended the lead to eight, 57-49, before an 11-2 run from AUM gave the Warhawks the lead, 60-59, after a trey from Harrell with 8:30 remaining in the game.
• AUM led by as many as five, 76-71 with 1:17 on the clock after a layup by DeRamus.
• Faulkner finished the game on an 8-0 run to take the victory, 79-76.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM converted 45.3 percent of its shots, finishing 29-of-64 from the floor. The Warhawks hit 9-of-29 (31 percent) from behind the arc.
• The Eagles shot 50.9 percent from the floor, finishing 29-of-57 from the field. Faulkner hit 6-of-23 (26.1 percent) from behind the arc.
• AUM finished 9-of-13 (69.2 percent) from the free-throw line. Faulkner shot 15-of-20 (75 percent) from the charity stripe.
• Faulkner won the battle of the boards picking up 37 to AUM’s 32. However, AUM picked up more offensive rebounds 8-7.
• AUM outscored Faulkner 40-14 in bench points and won the turnover margin 15-12.

• The Warhawks will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 18, when they travel to play Middle Georgia State College. The contest is scheduled to tip at 6:30 p.m.
