The National Weather Service says the elevated threat area, which extends south from Birmingham’s northern suburbs, could see tornadoes, winds of up to 70 mph, and quarter-sized hail. The best chances for severe weather will be in Alabama’s southern counties.
Forecasters say strong to severe storms will be possible as early as 6:00 p.m. in western Alabama until around 4 a.m. Wednesday in eastern parts of the state.
Alabama News Network will update any additional school closures/early dismissals.
