AUM’s Craig picks up 4th SSAC POTW
After averaging a double-double in a pair of conference road victories, Auburn Montgomery senior forward Reggotta Craig was selected the Southern States Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league office announced Monday.
With the honor for Craig, the Warhawks have now earned 7-of-12 conference player of the week honors. Fellow senior Jatoria Carter has captured the award three times this season. Craig became the first four-time weekly winner in the SSAC since Loyola’s Janeicia Neely was selected four times in the 2013-14 season.
Craig averaged a double-double of 23 points and 10 rebounds for the week, shooting 45.9 percent from the floor, 40 percent from distance and 88.9 percent from the free throw line. She opened the week with her 13th double-double of the season at Middle Georgia, scoring 23 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, before going for 23 points and six rebounds at Brenau.
On the year, Craig is averaging 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. She ranks fifth nationally in points (477) and rebounds (258), seventh in free throw percentage (.862) and 24th in field goal percentage (.472). She also ranks third in the NAIA in double-doubles.
Craig and the Warhawks will return to action Thursday, Feb. 25, when they host Brewton-Parker at 5:30 p.m. The contest will be AUM’s annual Pink Zone game in support of Breast Cancer awareness.
