Presidential Candidates to Visit Alabama This Weekend Before Primaries

AP_952771974313Four presidential hopefuls will court Alabama voters in the final days before the Super Tuesday primary.

Ben Carson, Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio are scheduled to make stops around the state before Tuesday. Former President Bill Clinton will also stump for his wife.

Alabama lawmakers last year voted to move its primary date up to join others in the region. Secretary of State John Merrill says Alabama is now positioned as a “mover and shaker” in the Southern primary, attracting more candidates and engaging voters.

Merrill says Sen. Ted Cruz is no longer planning a previously announced appearance in Birmingham, while Trump is relocating to a larger venue for his Sunday rally in north Alabama.
