Auburn looking for new COO as Benedict bolts for UConn
AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com)– Auburn Chief Operating Officer David Benedict has been named the Director of Athletics at the University of Connecticut, as announced Monday.
Benedict came to Auburn in January 2014 following successful stints in administration at the University of Minnesota, Virginia Commonwealth University, Arizona State and Long Beach State.
“An opportunity as significant as the Director of Athletics at UConn was something David couldn’t pass up,” Auburn Director of Athletics Jay Jacobs said. “David has a breadth of experience and a track record of success that will serve him well in his new position. I thank David for all he has done for Auburn Athletics and wish him, his wife Lisa, and their two sons all the best with their exciting move to Connecticut.”
“Working closely with Jay and the Auburn Athletics Executive Staff as we achieved the goals and objectives of our Strategic Plan has been both personally and professionally fulfilling,” Benedict said. “Jay is an outstanding leader with great vision and an unwavering commitment to the development of our student-athletes on and off the field of play. My family and I feel blessed to have called Auburn home for the past two years. I feel great about the future of Auburn Athletics and will continue to follow all their successes from Storrs.”
A search will begin immediately to fill the Auburn Athletics Chief Operating Officer position.
