There are several local races that are expected to bring out the vote in West Alabama.
And one everyone will be watching is the race for District Attorney of the 4th Judicial Circuit.

Incumbent Michael Jackson is running for a third six-year term in office. Jackson says if re-elected he will continue to work to put violent criminals and sexual predators behind bars.

“I’m the district attorney for everybody,” said Jackson.

“If you a victim, I’m your district attorney. I’ve been named District Attorney of the Year for the whole state back in 2013. You need a district attorney that’s tough but fair. Criminals have to respect the district attorney and they certainly respect me.”

Selma attorney and political activist Faya “Rose Sanders” Toure is running against Jackson. Toure says she’s offering voters a choice.

“People need to decide what kind of community they want,” said Toure. “Do they want a community where crime continues to get higher in spite of the high bonds and the long sentences. Or do they want a community where they’re safe secure knowing that everybody will be treated equally no matter how rich or poor you are.”

The Fourth Judicial Circuit consists of Dallas, Perry, Wilcox, Hale and Bibb counties.
