Auburn’s Tra’Cee Tanner named to AP All-SEC Second Team

AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com) – Auburn senior Tra’Cee Tanner was named to the Associated Press All-SEC women’s basketball second team, which was released Tuesday.

Tanner, a senior from Birmingham, Ala., averaged 12.0 points and a team-leading 7.1 rebounds per game through the regular season and SEC Tournament. She is also the SEC’s leader in field goal percentage (60.9%) and ranked fourth in the nation in that category.

She is 17th all-time in scoring at Auburn with 1,308 points and 14th in rebounding with 742. Tanner has accumulated 14 career double-doubles, including six this season. She was named SEC Player of the Week onJan. 5 after back-to-back double-doubles vs. Florida Gulf Coast and Kentucky.

She is the 15th different Auburn player to be named to the AP All-SEC Team. The last was her older sister, Tyrese Tanner, who was named to the second team in 2014.

Auburn was selected for the 2016 NCAA Tournament and is the No. 9 seed in the Dallas Regional. The Tigers will face No. 8 seed St. John’s in the first round at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Waco, Texas. Tickets are available at BaylorBears.com, and the game will be televised by ESPN2.
