Reggie Barlow Accepts Lanier’s Head Football Coach Job
MONTGOMERY, Ala (AlabamaNews.Net) — Citing his deep roots to the Capital City, Montgomery native Reggie Barlow was introduced Tuesday night as the new Head Football Coach for the Sidney Lanier Poets.
The 43 year old Poets’ alumnus, who had a standout collegiate career at Alabama State preceding his 8 years in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, went 49-42 as Head Coach at Alabama State before his abrupt departure in 2014.
He had most recently been mentioned for a head coaching post at Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia, but passed on the opportunity when he heard the same job would be available at his old high school.
Barlow says he hopes to make a positive impact on the Poets, who are in the midst of a rebuilding project after the sudden dismissal of C.J. Harris as head coach in late January.
