Gov. Bentley Awards Grants to Law Enforcement Agencies
Gov. Robert Bentley has awarded more than $38,000 in grants to upgrade several law enforcement agencies and improve public safety in east Alabama.
Funds will enable sheriffs’ departments in Clay and Coosa counties and police departments in Dadeville and Wedowee to purchase new equipment.
A $9,888 grant to the Dadeville Police Department and a $9,984 grant awarded to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Department will purchase electronic stunning weapons and other equipment. The Clay County Sheriff’s Department was awarded $9,949 to buy body cameras for police officers, and the Wedowee Police Department received $8,676 to buy police radios.
The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants from funds made available by the U.S. Justice Department.
