Montgomery County Sheriff’s office is honoring former Sheriff D.T. Marshall. Officials say his service to the county changed the way deputies protect and serve in the county.

The Sheriff’s Department asked the Montgomery County Commission to rename the sheriff’s training center and firing range after Marshall. Commissioners approves unanimously. Marshall Served as Sheriff for 16 years, bringing multiple initiatives, programs, and better equipment for Montgomery County Deputies.

Sheriff Cunningham says he’s hoping to dedicate the facility and fire range to D.T. Marshall by some time in April. Marshall retired in 2014, and immediately endorsed Derrick Cunningham for the job, who became the first African American Sheriff of Montgomery County.
