Alabama Prison Worker Charged with Sexual Misconduct
An Alabama Corrections employee is free on bond after being charged with having sex with an inmate at a prison work facility in Montgomery.
Court records show 37-year-old Angela Bowie Leonard is charged with a felony count of custodial sexual misconduct. She was released from the Montgomery County jail Monday after posting a $2,500 bond.
Leonard has worked for Alabama Correctional Industries in Montgomery since December 2014 but resigned after her arrest. The agency makes furniture and clothes.
An arrest warrant says a corrections officer saw the woman and a male inmate having sex in an office at the facility on Monday.
Leonard declined comment Tuesday, and court records don’t list a defense attorney who could speak on her behalf.
